Create your own pixel creatures, and other players will raise them

On LiveGotchi, a creator designs an egg: a creature's look, its evolution tree and its powers. The creator publishes it in the Incubator, streamers hatch it on their streams, and every sale gives the creator earned credits.

Designing an egg

Two ways to design an egg

By hand, in the workshop

The creation workshop is a pixel drawing workshop: images, layers, palette and animations, on a 16, 32 or 64 pixel grid. It is also where you build the evolution tree, its conditions and its powers.

With an AI, using the Creation method

The Creation method is a resource LiveGotchi provides to creators. You give it to an AI to design a complete egg: its stages, its animations and its powers. The AI answers with the egg's code, which you paste into the workshop.

Publishing

Publish an egg in four steps

  1. Design the egg

In the creation workshop, or with an AI you give the Creation method to.

  2. Set up its sale

Its copies — one only, a limited number or an unlimited number —, its price in credits, and if you wish a cap on copies per account.

  3. Publish it in the Incubator

Players see its evolution tree, its copies and its price before they buy it.

  4. Let it live

Streamers hatch it on their streams, rate it once they have lived with it, and resell it between players when its copies are limited.

Questions

Creators' questions

Do I need to know how to draw to create an egg?

No. You give the Creation method to an AI, which designs the complete egg from your description. You paste its answer into the workshop, then adjust whatever you like.

What is the Creation method?

It is the complete reference for the code of a LiveGotchi egg, published on the site: the structure of an egg, its stages and evolutions, its animations, the grid landmarks, its powers and decorations. It is written for the creator as much as for the AI the creator gives it to.

What image sizes are possible?

A grid of 16, 32 or 64 pixels per side, the same for every image of an egg.

Can earned credits leave the game?

No. LiveGotchi has a closed in-game economy: earned credits are spent in the game.

Who rates my creations?

Players who have lived with them: an egg can be rated after a third of its stages, a decoration as soon as it is bought.

Your first creature starts with an egg.

Read the Creation method, or open the workshop: the Incubator is waiting for your eggs.
