Health, strength, precision, mana: what changes at each level

By LiveGotchi TeamPublished on 8 min readFrançais

A LiveGotchi creature has four stats: health, strength, precision and mana. During the stream, they are gauges from 0 to 100 that chat activity fills and airtime wears down. In battle, they are four statistics that start at 10 and rise with level: health gives hit points, strength and mana the power of attacks and spells, precision weighs on damage. On the day of a battle, each gauge multiplies the statistic of the same name by a factor from 0.75 to 1.25.

Two readings of the same four words

  • The gauge, from 0 to 100, lives during the stream. The chat fills it, airtime wears it down, and evolution conditions look at it.
  • The battle statistic lives in battle. It starts at 10, rises with battle level, and its experience is only earned by fighting.

The two meet on the day of a battle: a creature well kept by its stream fights fit, a neglected one arrives weakened. The rest of this article follows that order, from gauge to statistic.

What the chat gives the gauges

  1. Every stream event belongs to a family: followers gained, chat intensity, energy sent (bits, donations), subscriptions, raids received.
  2. Each family brings stat points, set by the platform.
  3. The egg's distribution, chosen by its creator in the Creation workshop, spreads those points over the four stats: for each family, four shares that add up to a hundred. Without a choice from the creator, each stat gets a quarter.
  4. The more the creature has evolved, the less each event brings: points are divided by a factor that grows with every evolution. Hatching does not count as an evolution.

With Aubroc, for example, a raid is split 10 out of a hundred to health, 55 to strength, 25 to precision and 10 to mana, while a subscription goes to mana first, at 40 out of a hundred. Two creatures raised in front of the same chat therefore do not grow the same way.

A few brakes apply on top: a nearly full gauge rises more slowly, answering what the creature asks for brings more, and both a minute of stream and a single event have their own cap. A thousand viewers are not worth a thousand times one.

What wears the gauges down

  • Airtime: each stat drops during the stream, at a rate set by the platform.
  • The egg's affinity: the matching stat drops half as fast. Aubroc's affinity is strength.
  • The stage's temperament, chosen by the creator stage by stage: a stat can drop half as fast, slower, as usual, faster or twice as fast. A greedy stage wears down health, a lonely stage wears down mana.
  • A wave unique to each creature: the wear rate swings between 0.4 and 1.6 times, over a period of 27 to 43 minutes depending on the stat, set by the creature's seed. Two creatures from the same egg do not get hungry at the same time; the same creature always gets hungry at the same moments.

Off stream, the creature sleeps, and wear is fifty times slower. A creator can also go easy on a beginner: Tchak, Noclip9's entry creature, carries a lenient temperament where everything wears down more slowly.

When a gauge drops too low

  • At 35 or below, the creature asks for the missing stat. At 55, the need is met and the call stops.
  • A call left unanswered for 8 minutes of airtime counts as a care mistake, and health loses 4 points. The call goes on.
  • A gauge left at zero for 10 minutes of airtime also counts as a care mistake.
  • When nothing is missing, the creature sometimes has a craving, for strength, mana or precision, on average once every twenty-five minutes. Ignored for 6 minutes, the craving fades and mana loses 4 points.
  • Health at zero for 45 minutes of airtime, and the creature dies. A resurrection potion can bring it back, except after a death of old age.
  • Life expectancy is 120 hours of airtime, minus 40 minutes per care mistake, never below 20 hours.

In battle: what each statistic does

  • Health: a reservoir. Hit points are health multiplied by 5, counted once at the start of the battle.
  • Strength: the power of an attack.
  • Mana: the power of a spell.
  • Precision: it weighs on damage against the opponent's precision.

A blow deals strength (or mana for a spell) multiplied by 0.8, then by a factor from 0.6 to 1.4 depending on its share of precision: its precision divided by the sum of both precisions. No dice roll, and a blow that lands always deals at least one point of damage.

What changes at each level

  • The four statistics start at 10.
  • At each level gained: health gains 2 points, precision one point every two levels, and one free point goes, in the Nursery, to the statistic of your choice.
  • Leaving level n takes 50 + 25 × n experience points; the maximum level is 50.
  • A win against a creature of the same level brings 40 points. Each level of difference adds or removes 0.15 times that gain, up to five levels: 70 points against an opponent five levels higher, 10 against one five levels lower. A defeat brings 0.4 times the gain.
  • Form of the day: a gauge at zero multiplies its statistic by 0.75, a full gauge by 1.25.

Outside a challenge to the death, a defeat never costs the creature, nor its progress. The ways to fight are covered in Battle your creature.

What a power does to them in battle

  • Two families: an offensive power takes away from the opponent, a support power adds to its bearer. Never both.
  • Amount: from 1 to 15 per cent of the targeted statistic.
  • Cap: 25 per cent combined at most per statistic over a whole battle, whatever the number of powers. It does not recharge.
  • Duration: 1 to 3 turns of whoever carries the effect. On health, the effect is immediate: it removes or restores a share of starting hit points, one point at least.
  • Once per battle per power. A statistic never drops below 1.

A power never touches the Nursery gauges, nor credits: the gauges belong to the chat. And the 25 per cent cap is exactly the spread of the form of the day, from 0.75 to 1.25: an arsenal cannot weigh more than raising the creature.

Why ranked battles use bare gauges

In ranked competition, in tournaments and in ranked challenges, powers do not count, and the battle reads a separate series of gauges, called “bare”: the ones the chat kept up. They follow the stream like the real gauges, but no restoration potion ever touches them.

The reason fits in one sentence: an arsenal of powers comes with the egg, and a ranking has to be won by raising the creature, not obtained with an egg or a potion. In training, friendly challenges and challenges to the death, everything counts as it is: that is where you show your powers to your chat. Creators who draw those powers will find the rest on the creators page.

Potions, and what they do not change

A potion is bought with credits in the Shop, goes into your inventory and is used once, from the Nursery, on one creature. It cannot be resold or refunded.

  • Health, strength, precision and mana potions set the stat of the same name back to maximum, on a living, hatched creature. A stat already at maximum uses up no potion.
  • The resurrection potion brings a creature that has died back at its level: its stage, hours on air, experience and placed points are kept, and its four stats restart from a level set by the platform. It needs a free slot to come back.
  • Never after a death of old age: no potion gives back lifetime.
  • No restoration potion touches the bare gauges. They therefore have no effect in ranked competition, tournaments or ranked challenges: the ranking stays a matter of raising the creature. Resurrection, for its part, sets both series to the same level, so a creature brought back can fight again.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a gauge and a battle statistic?

The gauge, from 0 to 100, lives during the stream: the chat fills it and airtime wears it down. The statistic lives in battle: it starts at 10 and rises with level. On the day of a battle, the gauge multiplies the statistic of the same name by 0.75 to 1.25.

Can a power fill my creature's gauges?

No. A power only acts on battle statistics, during a battle, and everything drops back at the end. Gauges fill through stream activity, and a restoration potion can set a stat back to maximum, without ever touching the bare gauges.

Do powers count in ranked competition?

No, nor in tournaments or ranked challenges: those battles are played on bare gauges and statistics without powers. In training, friendly challenges and challenges to the death, powers count.

Can a neglected creature still win?

It arrives weakened: an empty gauge cuts its statistic to three quarters. Its level and placed points stay earned, and outside a challenge to the death, a defeat never costs it its progress.

Does a potion help win ranked competition?

No. A restoration potion raises the real gauges, never the bare gauges, and bare gauges are what count in ranked competition, tournaments and ranked challenges.
